Irish Abecedary

"Irish Abecedary" is actually two beautiful cross stitch designs in one: an "Irish Abecedary" (alphabet) and "Failte" (the Irish Gaelic word for "welcome"). And a bonus! It also includes eight charted Celtic knot motifs that you can mix and match to create your own patterns spelling out whatever you want, like your family name or your favorite Irish saying.

That's two charts for the designs shown above, an entire Celtic alphabet, and eight Celtic knot motifs -- the possibilities are endless (or whatever the Gaelic word for endless is)!

A stitching note: In these designs, the letters are worked two-over-two and the Celtic knot motifs are worked one-over-one, so working on Aida cloth would not be appropriate if you want to achieve the same look. However, these patterns are a great way to flex your stitching muscles and experiment with one-over-one!

"Irish Abecedary" was stitched on 28-count Putty linen and "Failte" was stitched on 28-count Valor linen by Picture This Plus. Information is provided for you to stitch the pattern with DMC floss although it could easily be adapted to "fancy flosses" like Weeks Dye Works, Gentle Arts Sampler Threads, or Classic Colorworks. Suggestions are provided.
